From Reflection to Service: Finding Purpose through Community Engagement
-A cohort of NUST Balochistan Campus students is currently at NUST H-12 for a three-week crash course on Reflection and Leadership, designed by the Department of General Education, JSPPL.
The course offers students a multidimensional learning experience covering soft skills, leadership, nationalism, religion, AI, stress management, career counselling and community service, combining classroom learning with practical exposure.
As part of the course, Ms Sehrish Hamid, Manager Community Service, Centre for Civic and Community Engagement, JSPPL, conducted an engaging three-hour session on “Deriving Inspirations for Community Service” on 9th August 2026.
Through interactive activities, brainstorming and open discussions, students reflected on their own experiences and explored how community service connects with faith, society, personal growth, emotional well-being, leadership, careers and higher education.
Drawing on her 12 years of experience in developing community service initiatives at NUST, Ms Sehrish encouraged students to see service not simply as an act of giving, but as an opportunity to learn, grow, connect and lead.
The session also prepared students for their upcoming community service field visits to an orphanage and an old home, helping them connect classroom reflection with real-life human experiences.
Because sometimes, the most powerful lessons begin when we step beyond ourselves and serve others.
