Department of Pakistan Studies

Head of Department Message

Dr. Adeela Ghazanfar

The Department of Pakistan Studies, as part of the General Education program at NUST, works to foster a balanced and informed view of Pakistan. Its history, constitution, ideology and role in the world. Grounded in the study of our nation's identity and citizenship, our department remains dedicated to producing responsible, engaged, and morally grounded citizens. As a discipline that spans all schools and departments across NUST, Pakistan Studies occupies a unique and vital position in the university's educational mission. Our faculty teach across all schools and departments, bringing with them a commitment to the values that bind every school, department and every student together: integrity, honesty, empathy and a sense of responsibility. "Knowing Pakistan is knowing ourselves- our obligations to each other, to the Constitution and to future generations." In exploring Pakistan's ideology, constitution, and socio-political history, students are challenged to think critically and move beyond rote knowledge and engage in thoughtful reflection. To reflect upon the principles that guide governance, justice, national unity and citizenship. We aspire to develop enlightened professionals who excel in their chosen fields while remaining socially aware, politically informed, and firmly grounded in moral conviction. Our teaching is student-centered, dialogue-based, and investigative. Through critical thinking and analysis, case-study, and open intellectual discussion, we prepare students to think, communicate and act rationally and ethically. They become Individuals who carry integrity and honesty into their professional lives, while understanding the weight of their role in Pakistan's future. We are especially committed to diversity, tolerance and celebration of multiple viewpoints, and to upholding Pakistan's Constitutional values of equality, liberty and rule of law. The department remains dedicated to fulfilling NUST's strategic imperative to educate students who are not only professionals at the forefront of their disciplines but also good human beings. We continue to strive for excellence through curriculum upgradation, faculty enhancement and the adoption of modern pedagogical approaches to ensure that our courses are relevant, challenging and up-to-date, and shaped by the demands of the ever-evolving world.
