Department of Islamic Studies – General Education JSPPL, is dedicated to promoting a comprehensive and balanced understanding of Islam—one that harmonizes classical scholarship with critical inquiry and modern academic perspectives. Our discipline, firmly grounded in a rich intellectual and spiritual tradition, remains profoundly relevant in addressing the complexities of the contemporary world. At the undergraduate level, particularly within the General Education framework, our objective extends beyond the transmission of religious knowledge. The Department of Islamic Studies also centrally administers and delivers General Education courses, including Islamic Studies and Understanding of the Qur’an, ensuring consistency, academic rigor, and relevance across the university. We are committed to the holistic development of individuals who embody integrity, compassion, honesty, humility, and a strong sense of social responsibility. Through engagement with primary sources such as the Qur’an and Hadith, students are encouraged to reflect upon and apply Islamic principles to contemporary issues, including justice, coexistence, ethical governance, and global citizenship. Our faculty employs a range of rigorous and student-centered andragogical approaches, including interactive dialogue, research-oriented learning, and analytical problem-solving. These methodologies are designed to cultivate critical thinking, intellectual independence, effective communication, and sound moral judgment. We place particular emphasis on nurturing respect for diversity, tolerance, empathy, and intellectual openness.
